This week I actually got out. This is a shot of the lunch they served at the press preview for LACMA’s California Design exhibition which is part of Pacific Standard Time. So much good stuff happening in LA right now. So the lunch – chicken, bacon and guacamole – but hey, it was in a wrap. And it was also kind of small. Very French really.
I had such a great day earlier this week touring JF Chen‘s showroom as they were setting up for the “Collecting Eames” exhibition with Daniel Ostroff (his collection of over 150 pieces was bought by Chen who then added to it – substantially). I met Joel Chen and his daughter Bianca and also the designer of the exhibition, artist Clare Graham. Moments like these I do truly love living in Los Angeles. The show is a must-see. There’s over 450 pieces of Eames design. It reminded me just how extraordinary Ray and Charles were. And all those pieces? Every single one if for sale. Here are just a few pics from my morning. Make sure you get there yourself if you’re in LA. Details: “Collecting Eames: The JF Chen Collection” is part of Pacific Standard Time. JF Chen, 941 North Highland Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90038 October 3–January 14. Show hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm, Saturday 11 to 4pm, and closed on Sunday
I’m still loving the Farrow and Ball ‘Downpipe’ we chose for the bedroom…now wondering where else in the house to add dark/er colors. Above the bed is the Bouroullec brother’s Algue.
Love this faux ad for the state-wide exhibition Pacific Standard Time. It’s not real but supposedly Ice Cube is doing something in honor of Ray and Charles Eames. Just not sure what yet. Pic via LA Curbed.
Loved this post over on Brainpickings on creativity and fear. I’m gearing up to dive into writing again and also working on the redirection of this blog. Looking for inspiration! I sit down at this computer every day and it feels good to think that just the habit of doing that…of committing to being right here could/will/must lead to something.
Beautiful Sydney…can’t wait to go back over Christmas and dive into that water.
I’m not actually in the market for a rug right now but if I were this would be it…patchwork kilim from West Elm. On sale right now.
Love this. You can find it on Etsy.
Long weekend in Palm Springs.
Fake wood mats from Chilewich. Just one of the new designs they are playing with this season.
