Amy Feezor has interviewed the lovely Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge about her favorite music over on Lifework. Check it out. I’m glad someone else works propped up in their bed! Pic by Patrick Cline for Lonny Magazine. Advertisements
I love this site – Architizer is a way for clients to find architect and architects to show their work. Cool interactive map. The house above is in the work of architect Joel Sanders.
What can I say – this is a really cute dog. Check out A Day in the Life of Turbo.
I subscribe to a great foodie newsletter called Tasting Table (lots and lots of good tips here) and they just published an excellent Green Guide for Earth Day. You can download the PDF here. I love this dine off the grid idea… DINE OFF THE GRID Mexico Restaurante y Barra will power down for one day, and serve a special menu ($20 per person) with family-style dishes prepared on an open grill. Juice for the margaritas will be hand-squeezed, and bring cash (no power = no computers). All are encouraged to take public transportation, walk or bike in (there’s even a bike valet). Sunday, 4/25 (3 to 9 p.m).; 8512 Santa Monica Blvd., West Holly-wood; 310-289-0088 or gogomexico.com
And while we’re on the topic of amazing artists, there’s also my aunt Julie. Her work has been collected by Australian chef Tetsuya for years and in a recent campaign for Electrolux he was shot in his kitchen with one of her paintings prominently displayed. I’ve got a few of her pieces – much smaller and not from this series, sadly. You can see her work here.
My dear friend Emma never ceases to amaze me. Her latest series of paintings make me want to weep – they are beautiful and deeply personal. Having known her since we were teenagers and being familiar with her stories these paintings have so many layers to them. But they are also just purely beautiful all on their own. I feel so proud of her. Check the work out here.
Parrot’s designer collection is hot. Love the Andree Putman digital photo frame. Via Design Public.
The Tim Olsen gallery in Sydney is hosting a show of Paul Davies architecturally inspired paintings. A lot of them are sold already but the work really sings and I am sure Tim would ship to the US if anything took your fancy!
Herman Miller has just launched five new colors for the Eames plastic molded chairs…read all about it at Lifework.
